358: Setting summer rays

A slight contrast to yesterday's traditional (although fake) Christmas pine tree, today's photo features a palm suited much more to tropical Queensland. I couldn't resist capturing some of the warm summer light cast beautifully across everything along the top of the Kangaroo Point cliffs. Lovely colours.

340: 3D type

A simple photo this evening. Just some lettering outside the house. But I thought I'd focus a bit more with playing around with some post shot effects. Levels, saturation, brightness, contrast. Quite an intense result, and I always like to feature another little bit of typography.

335: Lyrical rainbows

I've always wished you could capture music in a photograph. I'd love to see any pictures people have if you've managed to interpret music into a photo in some way (Email me). Perhaps people dancing, or someone playing an instrument? My best interpretation to date is through light reflections thrown off the CD in coloured rays. Imagine the sweet tunes those colours hold.

296: Mr square head

A funny looking graffiti man crossed paths with me while I was walking to the bus this afternoon. Simple but cute, Mr Sqaure head caught my eye, my camera and my heart. The white fill complements the other colours in this palette perfectly. Not too bright or harsh on the eye (like some graffiti), warmed just enough in the afternoon light.

291: Colour and light

Reminance of the party, but I just had to stop mid clean up and snap up some of this gorgeous light spilling through the green bottle and onto the wall.

270: Blowing in the breeze

I just pottered around my backyard this afternoon looking for today's daily snapshot. While these little buds are probably weeds, I still think they can be photographed to look arty and pretty in light breeze and setting afternoon light.

269: Glassware

Glassware makes a great prop or feature in photography. The way light filters through it. Reflections shine off it. Views are kinked and distorted. Lots of fun and lots of experimentation. The multiples of glasses here in the late afternoon light looks pretty. However I'm going to wreck it now by taking one and pouring myself a delicious glass of bubbly.

236: Ahhh England

Ahh England, everything about this shot reminds me of my childhood here. Peeping through the white window into a garden filled with summer light, still, at 9pm in the evening! The garden green, dotted with flowers and in this case a big yellow sunflower. I was supposed to be asleep, but the sunlight still shone into my room, filling me with desire to be outside playing like the older children I could hear. But today sleepy time has come my friends, as I am still catching up on sleep from my travels. I must snooze, but will be back tomorrow with more overseas delights!

209: Spotlight

Walked by this odd little room this evening. Bare except for a few chairs and a single light, I loved the way it spotlighted down on this white plastic chair. So simple. The shadow is great.

207: Old cobwebs

Just been pottering around on this quiet Sunday morning. I took a few photos sitting on the back step while enjoying the warmth of the sun, then turned to my left and low and behold here is this wonderful old cobweb. I couldn't believe my luck. I'd just been discussing my need to find a cobweb for the project a few days ago with a friend. What luck. I would like to find another one before the year is up though. Again early in the morning so it's all dewy and fresh and catch a super sharp close up. Fingers crossed!

182: Lime light

A cute little asian lantern we have hanging on our wall at home. I love the colour. Gave the name of the piccie a little play on words that my work friends might get a giggle out of! The latern doesn't have a light in it. I tried to give the impression of a warm glow inside by shining a big torch up at lantern. Worked pretty well I think.

171: Warm evening light

As the last of the afternoon light was disappearing over the horizon I grabbed my camera to get my hands on some lingering rays. While the obvious subject is nothing special, it's the beautiful light that I was really trying to make the main feature of the photograph. Happy weekend everyone!

143: Singing in the rain

Driving home from a party tonight. Was so much later than I thought and suddenly realised if I didn't get my camera out, I'd miss a photo for day 143. So while I'm singing along to Pink on the radio I dig my camera out and capture some great moving night light that is only enhanced by the rain beating down on my windscreen. I love the effect it has given around the street lights up above.

124: Powerful light

Captured this delightful sky on an afternoon walk today. Pretty.

120: Bumble Bee

I was outside snapping some pics of these little flower buds and and some of the flowers that have already bloomed, when to my delight a bee flew in and landed on this bud. He was still for long enough for me to capture a few shots and I was quite pleased with how they turned out. It may have been just the right time for the warm afternoon light.

093: Afternoon D-light

When I got home from work this afternoon I just fell into a nice little afternoon nap on the couch. Work was exhausting this week! Anyway when I woke, there was this lovely light spilling through the doorway into the lounge and delightfully presenting itself against the wall. We have this cute little birdcage sticker on the wall too, which was a great find by Candi at Wall Allure. Nice way to spark up your rental's wall without leaving any permanent damage. I'm off out to dinner now at the Lychee Lounge, in West End. We have been tempted by their glorious cocktail list for a while now so are going to try a couple. Everyone have a wonderful start to the weekend, see you with my next photo tomorrow.

061: Mementos

Again more lights! Haha I just can't help it. These cute little ornaments capture a nice little shine off their curves and the daintily painted colours and details are a nice focus point for the picture.

058: Lightomaniac

Another chance to play with light. As you can tell I'm quite fascinated at the moment! Light is such an important part of a photo's make up. It's fun just experimenting with different sources and angles.

057: Paper shades

This lovely lamp shade sits above our dining room table. I'm very into lamps as part of a room's decoration, they can be great features and well, who doesn't want more light in a room?

055: Self pictured?

I just can't for the life of me think of a decent name for this shot so I guess I was going for self titled like musicians do one their CDs. But basically this is just the light that sits on the wall next to my front door. Shame it's broken, it would be very cool to get a second shot for 365 with the same composition, just at night time with the light on. We also have louvers along the front of our house so I just tried incorporating them into the foreground of the pic.
