330: Shadows suggest

I'm always keeping my eye out for interesting shadows caught on walls (floors, ceilings, anywhere really). Sometimes the light can capture an object and cast a striking shadow more interesting than the object itself. I've given it a whirl this evening with this old washing basket left lying around.

209: Spotlight

Walked by this odd little room this evening. Bare except for a few chairs and a single light, I loved the way it spotlighted down on this white plastic chair. So simple. The shadow is great.

203: Shadow puppets

In a bid to entertain ourselves this evening, Candi and I got our shadow puppets on. Somehow it seemed a lot easier as kids, but maybe we were happier with dogs that were simply blobs of darkness and didn't try to perfect the shadow's outline. Was able to intensify the shadow by using a camping torch on the wall and I liked the idea of including the hand in the photo too. Give the impression of layers of human, light, wall, shadow.

181: Shadows whisper

I saw this photograph in my head on the bus last week. Tonight I thought I'd head back and try and capture it for real. It's not as pretty as what I thought it might be, but maybe because the bus shot past and it was just a glimpse of an idea in my head. Perhaps I'll try re-shooting it later in the project. The idea of playing around with shadows was inspired by a wonderful blog I discovered recently called Color Me Katie. Check out her post about shadows here. She's such a crafty lady.

050: Soft light, big lamp

Fifty, quite a first milestone! Hooray. A simple and quite photo tonight, I love the light and shadow cast across the wall and the profile of the lamp highlighted (I love big lamps!) It's lighting up the little cup sitting on my bedside table holding some favourite beads and rings.
