I had rather an experimental shot in mind today and unfortunately it didn't quite work out just yet. I have to master some settings and equipment first. So I'll keep working on that one, instead I stalked around looking for a back up shot. This little baby gecko was hiding out on my tripod, so I popped him down on the table and tried to get a couple of photos. To spark up the finished outcome I've played around a lot with the levels and contrasts to give it a film photo style finish.

325: New camera old camera
This evening, just as the sun started to go down I got out my new, old camera. A Ricohmatic 35, a nice little pressie I got for my birthday, and I sat it on the window ledge. Looking out across the jacaranda laden treetops I set about doing a little experimenting. My best shot (above) has just about captured the tree branches ever so close to clearly, while the actual trees in the background have been beautifully distorted and faded. The black of the camera softy suggests the image's frame. Quite cool.

140: Experimental
Something a little experimental this evening. I normally play with my pics as little as possible, but in the spirit of trying something new! Red is such a great, bold colour, why not try and enhance it within the composition to make stand out even more. The idea all started when I noticed my new nail polish matched the necklace I was wearing today and then with a plain and melting background it made a nice, simple photograph.

071: Through my cordial cup glasses
Looking for some ways of experimenting with new angles today. Glass is a great place to start, it produces interesting reflections and distortions with every shot, and by only slightly moving the camera you can score a whole new result. I love trying to capture exactly what I can see through my eyes and that means trying to get the camera to see what I see, not lowering myself to the camera. This photo just makes me feel like a kid looking into a huge glass of cordial on a hot summers day. I'm in love with bright and colourful things at the moment so the yellow totally caught my eye!

018: Myself

I'm sure everyone is wondering how I can post a photo of myself as a part of the 365 project, where I'm supposed to be taking the photos?! Well, with the timer set and a bit of fiddling to get the camera positioned correctly I managed to be both the subject and the photographer! Trust me I'd have avoided it at all costs but I left my photo a little late today and didn't have a whole lot to work with. I haven't experimented much yet with taking photos that include people. Despite being a little embarrassed about posting a photo of myself, this was quite fun and not a bad place to start, I can't wait to try and get some more people shots.

005: On a clear night

This photo had me experimenting with night time shots, getting the settings just right can be a little bit tricky. But hanging out in my backyard tonight I managed to capture this shot off the roof of my car! I definitely want to spend some more time working it out so look out for some more starry skied snaps later on.
