359: Christmas is here

Christmas is here and boy what a day! It's been lovely, filled with family and friends, glorious Christmas food, the after lunch siesta, pressies and games. What better way to cap it off than with an evening swim. I just had to hop out and grab my camera though when we turned the lights on. I loved how they lit up the water, and the clarity that was produced. Nick didn't mind having a few more photos taken for the 365 project. The end is fast approaching, I can't believe I only have 7 photos to go!

338: Idol times

...and speaking of Nick's art. Him and 2 of his friends Claire and Lachlan have opened a new exhibition of their works (Idol Times) at the Fort gallery this evening!

A super mix of illustrations, collage and paint in 3 quirky styles, the show is open until next Friday so make sure you pop along and check it out.

This photo was a wonderful surprise - I took a sneaky low shot looking up as this girl pointed out a piece of work to her friend. The angle, shadow and lighting came out a treat. Very pleased.

312: Nick

It's been a fair while since I caught you for my blog little brother. You weren't to escape for much longer. A great 'unplanned' pose, this is one of my favourite portrait shots of the year.

231: Disguised

Inspired by my little brother's crazy art I took it upon myself to put Nicko (pardon the pun) to playing card this evening and make a little modern art of my own. Or at least something wacky to photograph. What I love it that every time I make something like this for a shot and pin it up somewhere around the house, that it stays there. So ever so slowly I'm decorating the place with quirky little art installations. Now this queen looks like the Where's Wally of the deck of cards!

This evening my brother Nick opened his first official art exhibition at Nine Lives Gallery! A joint event shared with his friend Jared, a photographer, the mix of art and photography was just the right amount of variety for viewers. This great little gallery, located above the cafes at the top of Brunswick Street Mall has a whole load of atmosphere and is a very enjoyable place to enjoy the work of some of Brisbane's best creatives. The boys had a roaring success of a night and the exhibition will continue to show over the next 2 days. If you can make sure you go and have a peek. Congrats little brother.

073: Little bro's talent

Thank you Nick again, for suppling me with some weekend inspiration. My little bro had an exhibition coming up soon (in May I think) at the Nine Lives gallery so head to
http://www.myspace.com/artanaesthetic to suss him out a bit or stay tuned to the Nine LIves blog to catch the date of his show. He's been tweaking a few pieces for exhibition and this is just a small sneak peek of one of my fav's.
